Apart from creating backlinks. How can I increase my website traffic?
 
Advertise on BHW
by writing articles on low competition keywords, posting them on your site, and then creating a sitemap and submitting it to your GSC
 
There's a lot of ways this can be done:
1. buy traffic if it makes sense with your monetization model
2. Email marketing, build email lists
3. Shareble and engaging content for to share on relevant fb groups.
4. Post good content regularly, spend time on researching keywords.
 
There is so much way to get much traffic. The most important is an answer is why people visit your blog?

Work on your On-page SEO.
Post quality content frequently.
Do guest blogging and also invite others to guest blog on your site.
Use captive headings.
Use social media to reach many people.
Have a responsive site.
Target long-tail keywords.
 
High-quality content is important but unique and relevant images can also drive a lot of traffic to your site from search engines.
 
There is so such way to get much traffic. The most important is try to post good quality content.
 
SEO is the biggest traffic source to many websites, that's why the link-building is so important.

But there are exceptions, one of my stupid site (similar to buzzfeed) get 90% of it's traffic from social media platforms. The best part is, I have done zero linkbuilding on that website. But I regularly share things on Pinterest.

SEO is just a competitive method. Google gets only 30 percent of total direct traffic of the internet. So, there is gold in some places. Go and find them.
 
If the site is new and a noob like this guy, be sure to work tirelessly.
 
You'll need to get backlinks but I guess you already know that since you asked for alternate suggestions.

I would focus on creating quality content and lots of it.

Go after the long tail keywords. Check how your competition are ranking and aim to beat them with better content and on site SEO.
