I recently ranked #2 for a 2200/m phrase, easy-medium difficulty.

The only thing I did was find a better Allintitle (KGR) keyword than my competition and wrote a much better and longer content with media (video, image, and a google trends embed) in it.

The phrase now brings in 60% of the traffic.

But the phrase is a 4 word keyword, let's say: ctr check and website audits.

I rank #64 for "website audits" which is a medium difficulty 480/m keyword.

I rank #0 for "ctr check" which is a hard difficulty 1200/m keyword.

Idea: Do I create variations of the same article with more emphasis on one keyword, and do internal linking from the lowest ranking page towards the highest ranking page?

1. Improve Page Speed: Page speed is one of the most important factors for ranking in SERPs. Improving page speed will help to ensure that your content is visible to search engine crawlers and can be indexed quickly.

2. Optimize Content for Voice Search: Optimizing content for voice search is a great way to increase SERP without cannibalization. Make sure to include long-tail keywords and natural-sounding phrases in your content to make it easier for voice search users to find it.

3. Improve Internal Linking: Internal linking is an effective way to increase SERP without cannibalization. Linking to related content on your website will help search engine crawlers discover more of your content, thus increasing your chances of appearing in SERPs.

4. Target Long-Tail Keywords: Targeting long-tail keywords is an effective way to increase SERP without cannibalization. Long-tail keywords are more specific and often have less competition, so they can be a great way to increase SERP.

5. Implement Schema Markup: Schema markup is a code that you can add to your website to give search engine crawlers more information about your content. This can help to increase SERP without cannibal

I forgot to mention I do have FAQ and VIDEO schema.
Thanks for the ideas!

I will also go back to some old pages, add those keywords and then interlink.

The most popular approaches to increase SERP include:

- Increasing share of your category

- Using Google's Adword Optimization Tool (AOT) to increase high converting keywords in your listing

- Optimizing the images and content on your site through SEO optimization tools with SEO focused backlinks. For instance, Yoast SEO and Moz Site Explorer use the latter.

Showing relevant content in hyperlinking and meta tags is another way of increasing SERP without cannibalizations. However, this is a tough task because you have to ensure that it will be seen by potential customers. Besides, it has to be relevant for both customers and search engines alike. Finally, you have to ensure that it doesn't conflict with other terms/keywords in your competitors’ listings or that Google understands the context of the hyperlink or meta tag properly.

Functional bots are also used for such tasks such as Facebook reviews or Google display network ads .

I would advise you to find more keywords and make more pages

Build a site structure like the big media news sites, you can learn a lot form them, their structure is far beyond a simple siloing. They doing keyword cannibalization all the time since the last eight years and till today (on multiple separate domains) and google is telling you that this will harm your seo- really ?

And with this your chances are higher to gain multiple serp listings, but build your site structure topic centered, you have nothing to loose.

How do you guys find competitors articles/sites who not have a good link profile but good ranking? Using expansive keyword tools or free tools?

Happy Sunday !

There are certain keywords that have multiple search intents.

A lot of people think that as long as they target a keyword that is thematically distinct from their other keywords, they are not cannibalizing traffic for that keyword.

This is a serious problem.

It turns out that the main differentiator between keywords is intent, not thematic difference.

If you're faced with two keywords that are informative in nature, there are going to be a lot of overlaps even though it seems like they're quite different from each other.

This leads to traffic cannibalization from Google.

It's much better to target keywords with different search intents.

It may seem like you're targeting the same keywords with different pieces of content.

But as long as the search intent behind those keywords is different, you should be fine.

Also, it's very important to interlink your content the smart way.

What I mean by this is if you have a lot of informative content on your site, each targeting different keywords, make sure you link to them in such a way that differentiates them from each other.

For example, if the theme of one page is slightly different from another page, use a keyword that wedges those two pages apart because it emphasizes a specific subtheme.

If you keep this up, Google will keep with the fact that all these pages, although they have all sorts of overlapping keywords, are actually distinct from each other because they deliver different values as far as user experience goes.
