How to increase CTR on amazon affiliate site? (using button tricks)

I didnt know where to post this thread, so I would ask admins to move it if necessary.

First, let me explain you situation shortly
I have started amazon site, where I am reviewing things from amazon (electronics etc).
I know that testing in only real way to know what works best, but thing is I still dont have that much traffic, and also, things I am selling are very expensive, so instead of selling 50 items per day that cost 20$, I just need to sell 1 item from amazon priced at around 1000$, and have same commissions.

My Point: Its harder to test things when you sell such low amount of items that cost more, I still dont have enough traffic to do this.


So when from ONE sale you can make 100$ or more, its very important for me to maximize clicks on buttons that leads to amazon sale page..


My question is, what are tips you know to increase number of people that clicks on amazon affiliate links?
Do you know some good articles that will help me learn more (I know google exist, but still..)

Any tips you want to share? :)

If it's an actual button that you want people to click:
  • Make it huge
  • Make it orange
  • Put one above the fold (the area that is immediately visible upon page load), preferably in a banner sort of thing with the headline for the page in it as well
  • Put one at the end of the article
Also, make sure the text on the button:
  • Clearly explains what the button does
  • Is interesting
  • Ex: "Get Yours Now - Join 500+ Satisfied Buyers!" is a good button text.

Emm, I believe internet has been here for a long time that people are well educated at finding where is the button when they make the decision to buy.

So, your job is to help them making the decision of buying by answering all the questions they might have. Moreover, you need to mix your product prices to know what works best. Electronics is a competitive niche with low commission and I would never start with it.

The thing that affects your conversion most (unlike most people believe) is your keyword research. Every keyword in the world belongs to buying funnel, which translates to visitor intent and how close is he to make the buying decision. So, you should choose right keywords (with huge buying intent) and support it with right content (suitable for the intent of the visitor) to turn him successfully into a buyer.

Finally, when you are starting don't bother with these stuff. You should try and fail. Your first and only goal should be doing a keyword research --> build a website --> add content --> try to rank. Once you close this cycle you can start trying to optimize conversion, clicks, buyer intent ...etc. I don't even bother adding affiliate link before ranking in top 3

There are studies -- make it as easy as possible to buy and more people buy. Button placement, style, and anchor text increase CTR and conversion/sale rate. Make it harder for people to find things and people leave.

You're right, though. If your keywords aren't relevant, the whole thing is pointless.

I know about the studies. But, your answer should be suited to the one who asked. I can upload some books about UI, page optimization, Title optimization, words triggers ...etc ! But, would this help someone building his first website and never ranked a keyword. Not at all!! It would just overwhelm him and he can make good money without knowing any of this.

So, you should give him the right guidance to the most important stuff that he can never make any money without knowing them. Build then Optimize not the other way around.
 
Testing is the way to go. Use multiple CTAs including buttons, text etc and keep testing weekly for performance.

The thread is specifically about button tricks. Ask and you shall receive. He's been on BHW since 2014. He's a big kid now.

That is all great, but I made enough money doing SEO, I dont really need advices about that, but thanks anyways. :)

Yea, I know testing is way to go, but I wroted why I am not able to fully test it just yet...

Yea, I been working in IM for few years now, I know thing or two. I just wanted to see advices people have for that question.

I just wanted to see which tips can people give about BUTTON specific :)

This is the easy part. Every niche is different and every theme is different. So, you can setup any A/B plugin and start testing. Run one test every week ( with size, color , call to action , button placement ) until you find the most suitable combination for ur niche and traffic. I do this for every site I made, and I rarely see the same tips work for every situation :D

LOL, this is part of the reason I dont visit BHW that often anymore. I asked SPECIFIC question and most people answer me something unrelated.
I EVEN WROTED Why I am not able to do testing in my First post on this thread. And in second post as well, and you just repeat yourself.

I have been doing SEO and IM for over 4 years now, I made over 100k$, and coming from poor country and being 20 years old I think that is decent.
I dont need people telling me some basic stuff, learn this learn that etc. I am not trying to be arrogant, but I just dont get it.

First 2 answers were best... I just wanted to see which advices would people give me about buttons itselfs, which colors are best, which text should I write on button itself, something that works for most people.

Anyway, sorry if I am being arrogant, thanks for your answer.
 
If youre doing amazon so look for text that will make them curious before thinking about converting, remember your goal is to get them cookie.

Avoid crowdsearch.me unless you want ti tank your page.
 
Big giant red button with text - "Free candy". Make sure you have a really creepy picture above it.

CTR 100%.

In all seriousness, place the button somewhere super obvious, large enough to get their attention, with the colour light red, green or blue (might have to do some testing) with a call to action like "Check price" or "go to Amazon".

yes:

I write articles of the stuff i really had in my hands.
I make videos of the stuff I really had touched.

luckily, those "fake review" site bring me decent customers.
