How to IM a poetry book

Hello,

I have a friend who really is really into poetry and has written his first book. In my opinion it is very good. He is trying to self-publish it and is getting a bit discouraged. I know poetry is kind of a niche area. Can anyone help me out with some reading or forums to draw interested people to it and drum up some sales?

Put the book on Amazon. Follow the basic strategies for putting a book on Amazon for IM. For example you going to want to have a physical copy version.

Amazon will do all the selling.

In addition, probably follow the methods other artists or poetry writers use in promoting their books.

Thank you for the help. It is currently up on Amazon and a physical copy is available.

However right now it's just sitting there and he's not getting the traffic. I'm wondering if there's a way of finding like-minded people and somehow directing them to the book through the internet. I know my friend is looking into poetry groups and magazines, etc.

Any advice?

Create a facebook fanpage for the book, create some youtube videos about it. Do interviews, etc...

If the goal is to make money your friend should focus on what people currently buy a lot of , and just right poetry books for fun. People buy Evergreen products in the form of books or courses. Just google about them.

OR write fiction kindle books, there whole courses on how to write those also. Like novels, etc.. Its just a little harder to guarantee money off of those.

Sell it to uni students studying liberal arts - you will find such people on tumblr. Be ready to purge yourself each night, because lib arts people are annoying as fuck.

Haha I’ll check that out. A lot of the poems are not super PC (a little more of a conservative slant shall we say). But your point is well taken - need to go where people are reading poetry.
