Hi,

I'm from Sweden and have some US businesses that wants me to help them with websites and online presence.

The thing is... how am I suppose to receive the payments?

Are companies in general OK paying through paypal or do I have to set something else up?

I appreciate ANY help I can get. This is all new to me.

Almost everyone pays via paypal, you shouldn't have problems with it .

You can sign up to paypal business and generate invoice for them. They can pay the invoice with credit card or paypal.

Paypal for sure is ok. Everybody uses it.

Thanks for the help guys. Sounds like paypal is the way to go then.

Is paypal business required or can I simply give them my personal email attached to my normal paypal account?

You can receive payment via Direct transfer through Wire transfer to your bank account
But what's main drawback with this is that they take 3-4 days depending on your country and its banking system
and also quite expensive in comparison to merchant account services.
Thus You can't you use it for small payments or receipts
But main plus point is that these non-refundable and chargeback isn't possible.

Otherwise, you can avail Merchant Account service from Merchant Account providers and even have a payment gateway solution.
If you are looking for merchant account service contact me over Skype or PM me .
For payment solutions you can take services of a Merchant Account provider
or even have a Payment gateway solution

Most businesses want to use PayPal, as they can open a PayPal dispute in the event of a problem. Don't forget, though, about escrow services like escrow d0t com that will hold your payment, and then when the business has confirmed the work is complete they will pay out via wire transfer.

Hmm.. just an idea, you can ask them to hire you through elance as well if you like. But then there is an extra elance charges like 0.85%. There is also 2% paypal cross border charges (max $20 from memory). The benefit of using elance is that you can build reputation there and get more client as you do a great job. It also have built in escrow service so you will get paid per milestone done. Hope it helps.

PayPal is Ok, you can also use 2checkout or they could send you money directly to your bank account using SWIFT

You should get a business paypal account to do business, and link it to a business checking account.

Not sure how paypal works between Sweden - US, but I've heard that Indian businesses using paypal are required to send an invoice to a US client. The US client can't just get the Indian paypal address and send money.

Seriously though, keep personal and business expenses separate.
