I've used pinterest in the past and had some success but I had to stop the project as I was working on something else.

Does anyone have any tips on how to grow these accounts quickly?

Does follow/unfollow still work? I read a journey a few days ago and the user claims to have grown his page over 1k+ with just following/unfollowing.

What do you think about buying an old account that has a fair number of followers? I think it would be a lot easier to gain traction or is that a bad idea?

You need to fully read the threads of William702 in the Pinterest section, they will give you a great start.

you can do it manually there are exchange sites to do it , or pay people to follow

Or, you could read William702 threads & comments and realize that follow/unfollow method no longer works to get best results on Pinterest ;)

I've been working manually for two weeks at Pinterest and I have one of the pins that has a million Impressions, a thousand repins and a thousand clicks. I currently have about a thousand followers.

And is it really possible to make good progress in Pinterest? Is this a good platform for advertising?

Buying an old account is bad because that account couldn't safe for you. It would be better if you create an account and keep regular activity.
