It's not just linkbuilding, you increase your traffic through multiple sources, including SEO which is the paradigm of increasing your traffic through specific search in which, linkbuilding may help out
There isn't a linkbuilding rule of thumb. There is a full strategy made around and you should learn it thoroughly or pay someone to help you on the way.

Getting traffic to a new website through SEO is not a quick process. You can’t just throw a bunch of links to it and wait, it’s a compounding effect that takes months to see effect. Do whatever you can to increase traffic and gain quality backlinks, and you’ll see improvements over time.

The one thng I realised about website traffic is that it relies heavily on what you have on your ste. If you want t jahe traffick when you need to have content that will attract the first time visitors back. You should not just have content that is good for one read only but should be interesting that the people can go through them several times before they have enough.

If you want your website to have good traffic then you need to have some very good content not matter what the type of your website you have. There will always be people that will be interested in whatever you have to offer no matter what it is. You still have to know what its most popukar and not just go for anything because as much as they may have people they may not be enough to give you the kind of traffic that you need for your website.

If your site is new and have very low traffic, you can try to use some PBN/SEO services here in marketplace. I use some of them, and the result is relatively okay (some even very good). But all those link building will useless if you do not spend times to take care of your site. Make a good one, good contents, good on page SEO, nice template, etc. Then the linkbuilding will give you the good traffic result.

Traffic that is a good option, but I believe relevant traffic which can help you to monetize your visitors is main goal. I believe quality relevant traffic is something you need to work hard for.
