I know this is something that has been asked before but I have some unique circumstances so I figured I would see if anyone could lend some advice. I want to make a film trailer go viral, it already has a built in fan base and the content is strong enough to support the fact that the trailer would get a ton of views. How can this be done?

it really depends on what type of video it is.... maybe look for a popular facebook page that will post it

Have you thought of a combination of high retention views and tiered backlinks? If the film has a high search volume and the channel you are uploading it from has some authority, you should do fine.

I was about to say the same thing. People really need to stfu about doing all these foolish things to Matt Cutts. People saying how they hope he dies and goes to hell for being the head of the webspam team. Well guess what? He's doing his job the RIGHT way. i never listened to him and never will, i do my own thing and try to improve my methods, as should you.
anyway to answer op question, likes to your videos and social signs are the key but be logical if ur video have 100 view, max likes should 15-20.
and in social signs be logical too 25 fb shares + 25 tweet first day sound good and multiply that number everyday by 1.5 or 2
and best of luck
