I am new to niche's and whatever I Spend or do is all a learning curve, The only way I have been trying to rank my site is with backlinks other then that I have no idea how to get traffic do you guys have any suggestions as to what I can do other then backlinks to attract attention to my site?

This question has been asked thousands of times. Come to think of it, this whole forum is about how to bring traffic to your website. If you are building backlinks without even thinking or knowing what or why you are doing that, then it surely won't work. Use the search function and read up on different methods to bring traffic, IMO seo is the best method for quality traffic.
Try and go onto forums in your niche, just go to forums that are about whatever your selling, and join and leave comments/profile/links etc. Just be creative, dont use one sentences etc. Be useful and helpful with it. This also goes for blogs in your same niche, comment etc. You can find new content everyday by going to Go0g1le Alerts and put your keyword in and you will get emailed relevant sites/blogs/forums/news everyday Easy!

This is some good advice for alternative traffic sources. Also remember that you can approach websites yourself and ask them for an ad space which is really specific to your niche. Look for relatively high traffic sites that don't have obvious advertising, send a nice email and you will be surprised how many wil accept a small monthly amount for a sitewide banner spot

I would suggest to do good keyword research and rank your site for those keywords, that will give help you to get more free traffic from Google. But, SEO really takes time, but at the end results will be massive. For youtube as well as, you have to create as many as many videos and upload - You have to properly setup on-site youtube SEO too, to get ranks and more traffic.

start searching for low competition keywords and work your way up from there.
