How to get this dang site ranking

Okay, I bought this site a while ago (last may) and really haven't done much with it (was focusing on other projects). Recently I rekindled my love for trying to rank sites and this one is just so damn stubborn.

CPC: $2.89
Competition: Medium
Global Exact Searches: 14,800
Local Exact Searches: 8,100

Facts:

• It is indexed
• I've been building links continually for the past 2 weeks
• Not in top 25 pages for Google
• I've social bookmarked the main keyword with 500+ submissions
• I've driven over 7k blog comments in 14 days (1k confirmed)
• I've made 1k wiki links
• I've made ~50 confirmed .edu blog comments
• Site has been totally redesigned- new theme, meta changes, new sitemap, new content
• Ran through Indexkings

Any idea what I should do from here on out? This keyword should NOT be that hard to get in the top 25 pages for.

did you do all this linking directly to this website? .. no linkwheel/pyramid?

I've built two amazing (in my opinion) linkwheels toward the website.
