    Hi there!

I'm getting hit with a category limit (Just got a new eBay account and have posted around eight items). I'm wondering if I switch to an account that is three and a half months old but has 0 sales or selling items listed, will eBay's limits be lifted?

Or is everything based off of sales and selling items listed?

    Looking forward to your replies,

    Zach W.

I've been looking into this myself. As far as I can tell you just have to wait it out or call.

There's a link in your Selling Dashboard right under the Monthly Selling Limits that has the anchor text Request Higher Selling Limits.

Following the links leads to a number you can call to request an increase limits. That might work for you.

Best to just have multiple accounts (that aren't linked together) and spread your sales across those accounts. Sell your items among those accounts and let the accounts grow together and before you know it you'll have multiple accounts with high limits.

Calling means a rep will poke around through your account, and anything they don't like equals an instant suspension or restriction. With multiple accounts you don't have to worry about that and can get around limits easily without leaving it in the hands of a random rep.

Love it. Can they all be connected linked to the same Paypal account?

No, using the same Paypal account or the same anything will link the accounts together, which is something you don't want.

The reason why you don't want to link accounts together is if one account ever has a problem (suspension, restriction, etc), then all accounts that are linked together will share the same fate. So you will need to have accounts that are completely unrelated to each other for the best results.

I'm following the eBay TOS so I'm not worried about to much going wrong. For those of you making a significant income on eBay, how many items did you have posted before you consistently made $10 a day?

Really no way of getting passed selling limits. Like everyone else mentioned, use multiple accounts to move more inventory. Lessens the risk placed on one account you sell on onto several other accounts.

Depends on what you sell. If you have a high sell through item, you can make way more than that right off the bat. I sell low sellthrough but more profitable ($200 on average per sale) items and it usually takes about 3-6 months for there to be consistent sales on an account. Once you hit about 100 feedbacks I notice that there is a bump in your placement which increases sales and another bump at about 500 feedbacks. The most important thing in the beginning is that your 10-20 feedbacks have to be absolutely perfect. Then they will raise your limits rapidly if you sell a lot.

It's fine to have multiple accounts that are linked together in eBay's eyes, but using multiple accounts to get around any limits placed on your account is against the rules so you would be breaking their TOS if you did. That's why I mentioned you need to make sure they're completely unrelated if you want to go down that route.

    Per eBay (http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/multiple-accounts.html):

Call at you own risk... Do you want a rep looking at your account? I'd wait.

Calling them up always seems to do the trick.

I wouldn't want 50 smaller limit accounts either because none of those accounts will ever get big enough to receive premium search placement. Also, logging in and out of so many accounts and working with 50 bank accounts would get to be a huge hassle.

If you can wait a couple months keep you listed items at 70 to 80% of your limit and wait. I did this with three accounts and all three were raised every 30 days. With three accounts as others said don't link Paypal account.

That's why smart people use multiple VPS (Linux or Windows based ones), const. opened and minimized below. The experts (the smart of the smartest ones) use multiple desktops on their own PC, attached multiple portable browsers to each one, each one with an addon to maintain the IP, etc. - it's not for everyone, it eats alot of RAM (minimum 16 GB).

Spreading the risk into multiple small accs is a wise choice but all depends. Some day all of those "small" accs can be "mid" and then "big" ones. The other benefit is that you can compete with yourself. So when a buying search for "something_strange" keyword, he'll find 20 listings for X prices and 5 listings from your 5 x small accs with different prices (that will be put randomly between those 20 listings). So the chance a buyer could buy from you increases. You can have 2 x big ones with TRSP badges and compete on "Best Match", then 2 x mid accs on competing by sorting on "Best P&P Price", then 2 accs with auctions, etc. - there're many ways and different strategies.

I have seen one Chinese with main acc - 210k+ feedbacks and another 2 with around 44k feedbacks. Every listing that he list using his main acc - he copy it on the other 2 ones, of course totally different (stealth but with real info, real man) templates, skins, etc., only the prices are the same or different by few cents. So the's how "the smart CNs" operate. He even have few totally different websites from where he sale his stock but that's another story.

About the hassle - of course I don't recommend creating US-based accs, huh, or ANY other big/major country that "requires" a local bank acc. Alot of trouble. Withdrawing to VCCs is good and easy to accs that don't require to be confirmed a bank acc.
