Everyone knows that getting links on Wikipedia is difficult because of the editor nazi's that will undo your changes if they think you are a spammer. Here is how I have been getting my links to stay.
First find many articles on Wikipedia related to your niche.
Then get a dead link checker. I use Xenu Link Sleuth, from here http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html#Download
Run each link through the link checker, noting any dead links that were in the References area of the Wikipedia article.
Now go to archive.org, and try to find what article the Wiki reference was about, and copy the article out of the web archive and into a blog post on your website. Sometimes archive.org didn't get a copy before it was taken down, check google cache, if not there then find another dead link.
Last, edit the Wikipedia article to now remove the dead link and point at the article on your website. Make sure to include your reason for editing as something like - "http://www.referencedsite.com/article.html is a dead link. Found the same article on another site and replaced it as the reference."
The editor nerds will confirm the dead link, verify the new link contains the cited information, and your link will probably stay up!
