For quality backlinks? Write posts for authority blogs under your niche such as for SEO/ Internet Marketing "searchenginejournal, searchenginewatch, moz, copyblogger etc..) and use your website url in the author box.
 
Learn how to create Web 2.0 sites that almost have the same niche as your main site. Build a "network" of these Web 2.0's, and you can connect them in various ways.. then point some to your money site.

:) question of the day, isn't it. It depends on your niche, there can be different strategies depending what you're promoting and how. Your question is way too general and there are so many things you can do there would be no point in listing them all, if you search the forum you'll find a lot of information on this.
 
What you're looking for? free means social bookmarking, web 2.0 links.

paid means High DA Blogpost links, Guest Post links.

any suggestion how to get HQ links in the health niche with a pretty big budget?
 
Hej dude,

My advice is - keep it simple and stick to one tool/technique.
If you are hesitating I will definately advice you to invest a bit money in a tool. I normally use aHref which gives you a greate data. Then you could just extract yhe URLs (domains or target pages) of your "competitors" and scan their backlink profiles by using aHref. This will give you everything you need. After that you should decide how to go on. You might use semi-automated tools for submission. The best advice I could give you is - do it naturally. It will work better and in long-term.

Suggest !! Go on contribute on Health.com with Exclusive content. Sure you'll get PR 8 link back from you. And then create ingraphics and submit to directories. So, totally you take 50-60 PR3 - PR8 backlinks and also referral increasing day by day.

Google algorithm is too smart. In order to avoid Google penalty, first you need to make a list of blogs, forums, websites that are the same in the field of your website. For example, if you have an IT website, please join and build backlinks on IT forums; focus on them; don't building backlinks too much on other sites (such as Healthcare, Tourism...for example).
Then you should find out PR index for these sites. Spend your time on sites with high PR.

You need links in the article body from high authority related pages. Think how could you get such links.
