Agreed. Personally I love to travel the World and been to many places. I've also been to the USA - rented a car and crossed the continent form Atlantic to Pacific. I've seen a lot there, but I haven't seen anything that would make me (a Russian guy) want to live and work there...
 
My girlfriend is from Romania and won the visa lottery 4 years ago and moved to Chicago - she gets her citizenship in a few months!

When I was working outsourcing for the NY software company in the later 90s, my US boss offered me a work visa in the Brooklyn university (he has good contacts there) with a yearly salary about $35,000. Even those times I did the same money here in Russia doing online coding and advertisement. After many years passed, I'm very happy I didn't move to the USA with my family.

Yes, I know that Moscow is much more expensive city than any city in the USA (food, clothes, gas, electronics, realty etc), but I still can't imagine me living in the Sates: the country without free health insurance; the country with insane taxes (for example I pay 6% tax here in Russia) with all their stupid Laws, unemployment, and police state politics. No... I'd better pay more for the goods, but feel myself much more free here, on my Mother Land.

Not a few, but a thousand km - yes, the apartments (realty) will be cheaper for sure. Everything else (food, clothes, gas, electronics) - not. In most best case it will have cost the same money.
