How to Get Google to acknowledge Backlinks

Hi Everyone,

Currently one of my sites reports through yahoo and domain-pop.com that my site has well over 900 backlinks to my site.

Problem being, google is telling me that my domain has no backlinks... which I know isnt the case.

Now the sites that are backlinking with me are on the google index.

My Question, how do I "encourage" Google to recognise my backlinks, as I was under the impression you rank better with google with the amount of backlinks it thinks you have. (and yes my backlinks are legitimate).

Any help with this is appreciated

Google doesn't always display backlinks for some reason. even though you don't see backlinks, it doesn't mean they don't acknowledge them. I got a PR3 site with zero backlinks. just keep doing what you're doing. get backlinks from related sites that have high PR.

Thanks for the help. I'm ranked #7 for my target keyword, with approx. 600 more backlinks (mostly pr4+) than the top 3 positions. I've optimised my page to the max, and no matter what, I dont seem to be climbing the positions.

Thats why I started to wonder when google is telling me it doesnt know any links to my site.

Yahoo's site explorer is relevant tool. You can use it instead of any other to check for your backlinks.
Google's link: command updates its info as its pagerank - slow.. (2-3-4 months)

Sometimes is due to Google Sandbox effect. It will display the backlink gradually. Average is about 3 months.

If Google displayed the inbound links of every site that linked to your sites and the sites of your competitors, it would be pretty easy for someone with the right software or programming skills to approximate their algorithm. It's for their own protection.

If you're looking for a bit more accurate statistics, setup a Google Webmaster Tools account, add your sites, and wait a few weeks. I've found that they'll show indexed inbound links far more frequently than a regular link search.

I have webmaster tools with google all setup, still my domain is showing 0 links.

I'll leave it be and when it gets pagerank, check again.

I see that Google stopped showing links for my sites on June 7th or so. This usually means a PR update is coming. They stop calculating all inbound links on a set day, do the PR update, then continue as normal.

As always with Goog, just have some patience.

On the Google Websmaster Tools, be sure to check on the Links tab, not just the Statistics tab. On one of my site, the Statistics tab with the "site:" search only shows a couple of links. When I go to the Links tab and dig deeper, a lot more links show up that Google is admitting it sees.

Yeah the links tab shows plenty of links.
