I think one gets approved only after passing some online tests.

Online tests is the key!!!!! I resubmit my form maybe 20 times. They didn't want to approve my account for more then 7 months. Then I decided to make few tests and I pass them with great score. I reapply again and bam... After 2 days my profile was approved.

So... do few tests, fill in all of your profile fields and reapply.

I don't remember but I think its a year or two since the procedure to get approved on upwork became more complicated and tough.

upwork.com is the good old elance. I tried several times to get approved but they keep not accepting my application. I don't have a clue why. I even had quite a good profile on elance.com , not even fair that i cannot log in with my old account.

No is not. The fusion between eLance and Odesk and the result is a mess with sh*tty lower prices for jobs and is called Upwork
