Anyone have an updated method of obtaining edu email addresses?
Code:
http://maricopa.edu/
doesn't seem like it works anymore.

I have a permanent .edu email...is there really anything I can do with it?

Hm, lots of .edu email services seem to have been shutting down to the public recently. I used to recommend australia.edu but that seems to be closed to the public now as well.

Can expand your dropbox dramatically, can buy certain software with EDU pricing (70-95% discount), sign up for certain EDU sites to get backlinks.

I'll have to look into that. I knew that there were EDU versions of stuff but they aren't the full thing.

In most cases, they are. You can buy Adobe Creative Suite Master ($2,800) for like $600 with Academic Pricing. Same exact product.

I guess I meant for the resale value.

People sell EDU prices products and make a killing taking advantage of the first sale doctrine which basically says you cannot force a license on someone if they buy it second hand. In other words, the first person to buy it HAS to be eligible according to their requirements (i.e. be a student) but that person can sell it and the 2nd hand buyer does not have to be bound by those restrictions.

So people are buying products at EDU prices, and selling it a bit over EDU prices to anyone. So someone can buy EDU software just a bit over EDU pricing without being a student.

Competitive market though lots of people whoring that out and an EDU address isn't enough to get into that market.
