How to get a Static IP ?

Hello guys,

I have a client requesting my IP and email address to whitelist me on their VPS server. I'm not well-versed in IP-related matters, and after some Google searching, it seems I might need to set a static IP on my router. However, since I primarily work away from home, I'm wondering if there's an alternative solution. Please guide me in the right direction if I'm mistaken.

You can use https://www.duckdns.org/ to get a static dns record and whitelist it instead,
Or simply buy a static proxy IP or use a VPS,
Probably not suitable for your needs especially with slow connection or need some sort of work to run into your PC
 
Try asking your isp if they provide static ips. Usually they do with a per month fee.

If not, may be just register a vps, and give your client the ip for that vps. Then either ssh to the client vps from your vps (easiest option), or install openvpn server in that vps, and use that openvpn connection to login.
 
im not an expert but you need to buy a dedicated vpn/proxy.
majority of ISP's don't give you a static WAN IP as a residential customer. it rotates. you can always call them and ask for it.
you can set your LAN IP to static via Windows network ipv4 settings -- but nobody sees this IP except other devices in your home network.
look to purchase a VPN/proxy with static IP feature -- usually this is termed "dedicated IP".

You can ask your ISP if they are able to provide you a static IP address. Most of the residential providers don't provide static IP addresses while others charge extra fee for providing it.
 
Get a Dedicated or Semi Ded private proxy and use IP authorisation for it and these are static usually.
