Have you ever got a link from an 80,000 RD site like cosmopoliton? How do you do it?

Lets say you create some really great content, you know they'd link to. Is it as easy as contacting the editor? Are there services that hook you up with dope links like this?

I would try to contact one of their editors, offer some "top secret internal material" based on good researches and ask him for a link in return. But the material has to be legit of course.
