I'm looking for 300 legit followers (to get to the 500 minimum).

Follow for follow. Search for related hashtags like #follow4follow #followback etc. Follow and like first 2 tweets of the account using those hashtags in tweets. Follow only those who have more following then followers.

Yeah, the tip above is solid. Sounds straight forward but the devil's in the details. Particularly for engagements, I find that it's one of the fastest ways to get a following started.
