2) purchase 1 cheap domain and become their customer
3) dreamhost host will send you email every month with free domain offer.
4) login to your dreamhost account and make the purchase for 0$

That's true for all TLDs but Google keeps abused TLDs in a longer sandbox. It becomes difficult to drive SEO traffic in initial phase.
 
Didn’t know that, thanks for sharing. Gonna give it a shot — free domain every month sounds too good lol. Hope they don’t patch it soon.
