There are what is called "pods" that are ran using chrome extensions.

I did not try it cause I did not want to risk my profile being at the hands of a browser extension, but it is a common way.

Just make sure that the profile looks REAL. Try to fill in as much realistic profile information as possible.

Post regularly (i used a content planner for this) with quality contents (maybe some content that have big chance to blow up will help too), that's some tricks that I did. But I don't really play with that nowadays (mine is big enough for my business, tho).

Further, be known for one particular thing instead of too many. This way you will attact right members. One guy by the name of John Espirian has a very good linkedin courses. Consider enrolling for it.
