Anyone have some advice on this? What is generally thea mount you would need to pay rewriters to be profitable? i.e like $1-2 dollars per article? This if of course for resubmitting to AC

The first 2-3 pages of the "made $30" thread should answer your question. Your profit solely depends on how much you're getting for upfronts and how much your willing to pay your rerwriter.
It comes down to this...you can hire some really good rewriters at $1 per but you will need to weed through some crappy ones first, or you can skip some of the weeding out and just hire someone at $2-$3 per article. The problem with the latter is, your profit margins wil be tiny at first until you get your upfront offers higher.
