I need a way to find free local proxies. They must be LOCAL, I don't know how far away is considered local for what I am trying to do, but I am thinking within 200 miles or so or wihtin the same state.

Anyways, if anyone knows of a way to find proxies that are local to my area, please let me know. Thanks...

Sorry, I forgot to mention that. I'm in the US, and will need to find proxies that are local to which ever city I will be dealing with via craigsl*st.

Metal: I think you won't receive a magic response here that solves all your troubles.
You will find plenty of threads on how to find 'public proxies' by using the search function, also how to test them for geolocations.

On proxycollective for example I've so far tested about 500,000 proxies that were working once. Only about 1000 of them still work and most are not of highest anonymity.
This said: it's a real pain to get a reliable public proxy solution built by yourself.

    I'm sure about that:
You will either end with very small amount of proxies in the area you look for, or you will end buying proxies for your purpose.

So either invest a lot of work (start by using the search functions) or you'll have to invest money.

Thanks for the response. What about any good sources for free US proxies? I can harvest with scrapebox, test them, then test their location in bulk with http://www.ipligence.com/iplocation which will give me the state/city. But the problem is finding a good list of US proxies to start with. I think this may work for me if I am able to generate about 20 proxies that are located within about a 250 mile radius or so of my location (a major US city). This doesn't seem unrealistic to me, what do you think?

It's best to subscribe to one our proxy services here on BHW proxy sales thread (proxygo, justone, or others, such as proxylist.co, depending on your preferences), instead of spending hours scraping for free proxies. When running business, time is money.

I assume you're referring to geo-location CL postings, based on what you just described?

Yeah I guess geo-location is the term used? I don't know. All I know is that when you flag an ad on craigslist, the flag must have come from an IP address that is located fairly close to the city the ad is posted in. Otherwise, it doesn't count. Either that, or it doesn't count for much. So only US proxies will work for me, and they need t be undetectable by craigslist. I've heard CL is pretty good at detecting proxies too.

I probably only need like 20 proxies that are local to my area. I really don't want to buy any proxies, but how much would that cost me per month? Could you even buy proxies that are located within a "x mile radius" of your location? Because that's what I would need. I won't be doing any posting with these, and probably only flagging 1-5 ads per day, only when I am even on CL. So they won't be used much, hence the reason I don't want to buy any.

Geo-location proxy IPs are necessary when dealing with "local" presence web sites such as CL.

Yeah...that method is pretty typical for killing off the competitor's ads posted on CL. Not nice, but it's not my business.

Really, I would suggest you to subscribe, and pay for the services offered by the private/public proxy providers here on BHW. You're asking for something or ideas from us on how to do it for "free", which can not be done based on your specific needs. It's best if you pay for something, and you'll get what you need.

Proxylist.co has the depth geo-location IP details - see the screenshot here:

    Hope it helps.

I'm not flagging competitors ads, I only buy and sell tangible items in person on CL. I want to flag ads of things I want to buy so that nobody else calls on the item. There can be like 50 people calling on the same thing if the price is low enough within say 10 minutes, it's insane. So i don't think there is anything wrong about it, I am flagging something I intend to buy and I just want to make sure I am the one who ends up buying it, I can't compete with 50 other people.

With your proxy lists, can I choose the general location that all the proxies come from? For instance, can I buy a package and receive only proxies in a certain state or near a certain city?

In other words, eliminating the competition. Of course, it's your business, as you want to make money. I wish I have that flag feature on Ebay - oh well. ;)

Yes, in most cases, by visit Proxylist.co's famed user-friendly member dashboard often to access to the updated geo-location proxies list.

    Hope it helps.

wow thanks for the help buddy..

I just joined your site and bought the 20 US proxies, but these are useless to me because they are not close enough to my location. I just asked you about this and I should have known from the generic response... "by visit Proxylist.co's famed user-friendly member dashboard often to access to the updated geo-location proxies list.". OK... so it does show where they are located, but I cannot pick which ones I want so it's useless. If there is no way to pick my own proxies that are located near me, or have a list generated that included only proxies near me, the list is useless to me and I would like my money back.

I see you picked 20 USA SOCKS, instead of 100 USA SOCKS. Why not 100 USA socks package? It would be great if you have listed the cities. If you like, you can send the list of cities via email - I'll tell you from there if we have them in stock.

I just checked 100 USA SOCKS package - there are 28 USA states available, with 1-5 geo-location IP/cities in each state.

Refund is given as it didn't work out for you.

In reality, there is no such thing as having all proxies in all USA cities available. If you want few "private" IP addresses per city across the country (100 cities or more), it would cost several thousands of dollars/mo.

Please let me know if you changed your mind and need our assistance.

portalweb - Refund received, thank you.

I don't know why this is so hard to understand. Let's say I live in Houston, TX, and want to flag ads on Craigslist in Houston. I would need about 20 proxies that are "geo located" IN or VERY NEAR Houston. If the proxies are not "geo located" near the city I will be flagging ads in, the flags WILL NOT COUNT and the ad WILL NOT BE TAKEN DOWN, and this makes the proxies USELESS to me.

When I say they need to be "geo located" near my target city, to me, this means that the proxies should be in the same state or within 250 miles at max. Ideally, the closer they are located to my target city, the better. I have no idea how close they actually need to be, but I know that craigslist does indeed require the flags to come from a local person, local to the area in which the ad is posted. Therefore, a list filled with proxies from all over the US is not what I am looking for. I am looking for someone who can provide me with a list of around 20 proxies that are "geo located" near a city I specify. I've seen people advertise their proxies are based out of a certain city/area so I know this is possible. What I don't need is a huge list of proxies that require me to sort through them, looking for the ones that are close to me.

That is what I'm saying as mentioned in my earlier posts. I do understand your requirements.

Really, you can't expect the proxy providers here on BHW or anywhere to offer proxies available in 1,000+ USA cities at low price. It is simply not possible.

I wish you luck in finding the proxy provider who can offer something that may satisfy your needs.

I understand that, but I only need proxies near ONE city, which has a metro area population of over 5 million, so I'm sure there are some proxies near my area. I've already found one vendor here offering proxies in one location of my choosing, but the closest one is just out of my range, but fairly close. So I'm still looking.

You can PM me on which city you need per my earlier request if you do not want to list the city here. Then, I will be able to advise you from there.
