How to find expired domains

Hi BHW members,
How to find out expired domains?
Do you use tools or something to find out?
Please help

You can use tools like Expired Domains.net or SpamZilla to find quality expired domains. Always check backlink profile and archive history before grabbing one.

Domcop, Spamzilla, Expireddomains.net, or just download all the domains from the auctions like Namejet, Dropcatch, Godaddy and run them through Majestic let's say. Domcop can do that for you though.

Or just buy them.

I usually start with ExpiredDomains.net - its free and has solid filters like backlinks, TLDs, and niche keywords. Once I find a few, I cross check with Ahrefs or Moz to make sure the backlinks are clean and there's no spammy history.

To find expired domains, the go-to method is checking daily drop and pending delete lists. You can script your own crawlers or rely on platforms that aggregate domains with filters like backlinks, trust flow, age, or niche. If you’re scraping heavily, using mobile proxies can help rotate IPs naturally and avoid bans or captchas, especially on registrar APIs or Whois lookups.

And be stuck fighting over the good ones that everyone else is looking for.

I know there are people that disagree but there are loads of people still finding auction grade domains out in the wild, doing so is much lazier and my preferred method.

If your budget is low then you definitely should be scraping for domains rather than buying at auction or drop catching. For the price of 1 drop caught domain, you could be scraping every website in your niche looking for domains with links from your competitors.

It is crazy to me that people will buy a domain with lots of high powered backlinks, to improve SEO, when a good link from a competitor can drive traffic directly from your competition to you, as well as give a strong SEO boost.

Everyone is suggesting the same tools and the same methods that are pretty saturated at the minute, when you're scraping your competition for good domains is only who is in your direct niche.

When you scrape a domain, you will only pay the price for registering that domain, there is no auction fees, no bids, no transfer fees, no waiting time, no over the top costs for the domain itself. When scraping, you simply crawl your competitors, and authorities, and register the domains you like.

In order to examine backlinks and history, I often search expired domain markets like ExpiredDomains.net and combine it with Ahrefs or SpamZilla filters. Finding treasures that others overlook can also be facilitated by a little manual digging with Wayback Machine and archive.org.

If you want fresh drops, set up crawlers or scripts that monitor zone files. Tools like ScrapeBox expired domain finder still work great.
