How to find competitor black hat links?

Hey bros,

33yo boomer here, 10-15k per month income, 600k in stocks and still I can't figure out how one competitor is ranking. Pls help kind sir.

I have a super strong competitor ranking for super broad things like "table cloth" in a big country. They have decent onpage game, but nothing really impressive. I checked their links in majestic and can't find a single legit backlink, its all just super old school directory stuff, probably built in the 90s. I am pretty sure this guy is still doing 90s style seo, probably black hat and or expired domains.

Now, I don't know much about expired domains, but I remember from buying link packages on here, that these days you don't get a link report and the domains are somehow hidden from majestic and others. Is my understanding correct? How can I find where this fucking guy hid the bodies? It drives me insane.

And don't give me that "google doesn't care about links" crap, I am ranking 100% duplicate content with bought links alone, though I don't buy them here, I buy expensive links from legit websites.

Anyone willing to spill the beans?

if their PBN (assuming they have one) is hidden from crawlers you can't find them
 
You should be able to find all of their backlinks using ahrefs or semrush. If the are hiding their backlinks from robot crawlers then it will not be of any use to them. So, I don't think they will hide their backlinks from crawlers
 
Ahrefs is the way to go, but they can simply block these crawlers to index.

Exactly. Imo "link research tools" ignores blocks and just crawl whatever the fuck they want, or so they used to say back in the day... I bought the 17$ trial and found some very naughty links, however nothing resembling PBN. Just blogspot spam and similar. How can they fool google for years with this crap? What am I missing?
 
use bing webmaster tools,
there are a couple of threads showing the steps already,
you don't have to share how many you make or have to get an answer, that's just a weak's flexing

Sorry, dude, I can't help myself. I used to wash dishes you know. Almost ended up homeless at one point. Spent some weeks in jail even. So I have 0 class. Didn't mean to shit on other people or anything.

Thanks for the tip, didn't they remove that at some point from bing wmt? But apparently its back now under anew name... Ill check it out.
 
suggest to use semrush to check their backlinks. i have found links in semrush where ahref did not show it.

also do this search, you might get lucky finding some hidden links

Your competitor might be hiding PBNs from crawlers. Apart from backlinks, there are several other factors that influence rankings like existing traffic (in case of old/expired domains), authority, social shares etc. You need to research their complete on-page and off-page strategies to identify where they are scoring higher than you. Backlinks are just a part of the equation.
 
sneaky redirect are difficult to catch, the best would be to check each of them manually with search operator "domain.com" -site:domain.com You might get lucky to find what exactly they are upto
