How to find clients for rent a site model?

Hi guys,

I was just wondering how many people found clients via methods like direct mail, cold calling and knocking on doors and if so what kind of conversion rate can we expect, i.e do I need to send out 1000's of mails to get a customer or 10?

It seems to me like word of mouth may be best but I really want to get more clients for my rent a sites!

Expect 0.01 success rate. It's really hard to make a fresh first deal.

Rent a site as in you have a site ranking well for a keyword and you want a particular business to buy the leads from it?

Thanks for the replies guys,

Yeah basically I want to find a client before I build the site and then rent it out to them, I have done this with 2 clients already but they were from refferals, I'd really like to be able to close my own deals so wanted to test various methods like cold calling, direct mail etc etc, imperial444 - is that figure based on your returns?

If the website already gets traffic I expect your model working with much more better rate. at least 3-4%.
But if you are offering SEO or Design services for a brand new prospect, you it's gonna be much lower
