What metrics to look for while buy cheap expired domains under $80?

I don't see how price would change anything? You want something with good links, that's it. The more the merrier. Look for links from within content, disregard user generated links (forum, blog comments etc.). Try to find domains with high quality links that you would pay for otherwise. Link loss happens as well so I wouldn't go for anything under 50 RD tbh. I also try to get domains where the links are not scattered all over the place. 80 % or more of the links go to the home page or 4 - 5 pages on the domain. Then obviously do all your spam checks (anchor/hosting history/archive)

For the mentioned price, nothing you will get is the best.

Maybe you will get the site with metrics like DA/PA 1 to 5 / age like 13 to 18 months.

If you are using the expired domain for PBN building, you should invest more than $100 to $150 per domain.

For redirection, the traffic source is more important than other metrics.

So it will take up to $250 for the minimum investment.

For redirect, important metrics to check is traffic source, if the expired domain still got organic search traffic and still indexed on Google?

I just buy them here in the Marketplace but aim for the higher priced ones with more referring domains and higher DR to avoid managing a ton of them. Rather have a few really powerful ones

I found plenty of good domains here: https://www.expireddomains.net/

yeah on expireddomain.net they are really good
You can set several filters, i.e. Majestic Metrics and Wiki and then process the outcome through a tool like https://www.prepostseo.com/domain-authority-checker
This way, you can find expired domains at the cost of the domain registration.
Apart from the backlinks, another important factor to me is the content available on archive.org. With this method, I found another expired domain with good metrics and 60K words of beautiful content today :)

Is there any free tool to see the traffic of the expired domain?

You have to filter and check every criteria manually before buying expire domain. What are your preferable niches?
