Mate, The most common way of getting a backlink is to find authority sites related to your niche and do a guest post.
You may also build backlinks by social sharing, blog commenting, also you can submit your URL to bookmarking sites.
Run your competitors through Majestic and Ahrefs. Pick out the follow blog comments first, as well as the high authority no follow blogs. Go write detailed and useful comments on those pages. Then start looking at the other relevant blogs that are linking to them. Look for guest posts, contact the webmaster of that blog and kindly ask for a guest post in return for a high quality article. Rinse and repeat.
