How to fake refer?

Hello,

I was wondering if there's anything capable of fake referring a social networking site like Facebook or Twitter to another site of my choice to get more hits/views. Is it possible to make it automated and would proxies be required or would it not matter because it isn't actually viewing the page? Let me know what you think.

I do not think this is possible for FB or Twitter, b/c to fake a referer you need to insert javascript in the header. Since you don't have this capability in FB or Twitter, it would not be possible.

I've been seeing a lot of people with mass amounts of traffic from sites like those though, plus certain services even advertise views being referred through FB . If that's not possible could it be a botnet or something? I was talking to somebody else earlier who said it isn't an actual bot that views the site which is why they claim "real views" are being delivered.

Now days, large numbers of people across the world have become the part of social networking websites as Facebook, Twitter and so on. Even most of them are performing various business-related activities via facebook. Therefore, it is not possible for social networking sites to identify fake refers. However, in case you are installing javascript, it may be possible to detect fake refers.
