I've been wondering, if one builds a proxy farm and wants to expand to new locations what is the best and most cost efficient way to do this?
Rent a room in new location? office space? rent from a server center? is there any other way?

It depends on many things. If you have a small business with 10-20 proxies - you should find a part-time partner(using facebook for ex.) who will hold your proxy farm at home, sevre it and purchase simcards etc.

If you run a bigger enterprise with hundreds of proxies - you need a place with perfect connection.
Depending on what scheme do you use (standalone phones or local server-based usb-stick farm) you need an optical line with high-speed connection.
And obviously you need many sim-cards.
On this level all this usually done by a company, not by an individual. (it's cheaper to buy sim's and easier to rent a place for company)
You need an employee to serve your farm and to be your business representative.

cut a deal with airbnb owners.

or use 5g as the main router and hide your rig in airbnb.

or hide it in the ceiling of any office building where there are those detachable ceiling plates you can lift up.

or rent a small office space.

"use 5g as the main router" what is the benefit in this case ? not needing ethernet connection ? I'm asking because 5g modems are costy

I'll share some insights from the experience with mobile proxy farms using mobile phones.

In this case, the choice of location depends solely on the quality of the mobile signal. Usually, there are no problems with signal cover in cities, so most of our proxy farmers set up their farms at home. It doesn’t take up much space since it's essentially just a few phones with chargers connected.

Many keep the farm at home even when it grows to several dozen phones. As the scale increases, they might hire assistants to manage the farm or rent a small space in an office building or a garage, or make arrangements with a friend’s office to set up there.

Some of our farmers have even used old vans and simply parked them near a mobile tower. And some people store rows of phones on the windowsill, ensuring both good signal and cooling, lol.

However, if you're talking about a farm that relies on your own servers, things get more complicated because having a high-quality internet connection to the server is crucial. In this scenario, not every home will be suitable ofc.

not needing ethernet connection ?
yes. thus making things stealthy. and then you can hide your rig anywhere, e.g. on rooftops or in office buildings, or staircases, mask it as a electrical utility box or whatever and no one ever will know

You should residential rotating proxies, but what do you use to fake it? are you using any antidetect software?
