How to efficiently manage multiple WP sites at once?

I'm wondering how it's possible to manage lots of WP sites at once, 10+ or even more than 100. How do all the PBN sellers and the different agencies manage hundreds of WP sites at once? Let me know your solutions and what would be the best option for this. I've been taking a look at WPMU atm.

Some hosts are designed specifically for PBNs, easy to access, and all you need to do is build the sites and create articles when someone buys links from you.
I would assume most of them are hiring VAs as well.
 
wp-umbrella is also a good option and ou can also do it mannually
