How to earn money with giving away software ?

Hi !

I need some ideas about making money with giving away popular software ( I have rights for it )

My first idea was to make it available for download after someone fill some CPA offer. What are technical requirements for this ? I know there are some scripts for intencivizing offers, is that the way I shouls go, or is possible to do it without that scripts ? How would I know if someone complete offer ?

Second was PPI. I am not sure will I go with this, but anyway, how can I code it for that ? Does Zango have premade solution to add their code to my download file or what ?

Third idea is lead capturing, but that would be pretty untargeted leads because the software is something that all people are interested in, so I can't determine what to offer them later and make it targeted in same time. It would be pretty blind advertising.

let them submit their email then send an email with an cpa offer. Advise them to fill out the survey or what ever it is. An tell them the last word of the page which comes up when the survey is completed is the password to the file/software.
this way you wont get any trouble with the networks because there is no way to find out that it was a forced process - your cpa offer can be on a completely different site

Force them to sign up to your email list in order to receive the software, then send them clickbank product offers. Any good clickbank author has an affiliate section with pre-written emails you can send out.

yes, thats cool with clickbank, but little problem is in fact that it would be pretty untargeted people. But I guess that teens would be majority so CPA offers would probably fit best.

Now about that "last word is password". In that case I would cheat them and they wouldn't get a software, isn't it ? I don't have the problem with that, but I would like them to really download the software and to give me some viral push.

So, incentivize offer would be best. Networks wouldn't mind, I would get my profit, and they would get software. But how can I do this to know they completed incentive offer to get a software download ?

1. user comes to your site in order to download the software..
2. he/she has to submit his/her email address
3. you send an automated email with the link to a cpa offer
4. user fills out the form or does what erver he/she is suposed to do

Exemple:
in the fist exemple it was a survey, in this case the user hits the "send" button an will be directed to a "thank you" site or what ever.. (keep in mind this is not your website)
let's say the "thank you" site of the merchant says something like thanks for taking your time bla bla Your survey office in oklahoma.
so the last word is oklahoma!

5. the user goes back to your website
6. to get access to your download area he/she pastes the password/code oklahoma into your formular.
7. the user hits the "send" button and enters the download area.
8. everyone is happy

you have to make the survey by your own of course to knwo what the last word is.
but you should always try out your cpa offers yourself anyway

I have just today started to look a little bit closer at the service Trailpay.com is offering. This is pretty much a service where the client get the product for free (well.. Without opening the wallet at least) and you get paid.

Don't know yet if this service is any good but I have seen others use it and it sure looks interesting so maybe you should give it a try? I haven't looked so deep into how it works but it seems like one have possibilities to make more money from the clients over time.

Still... Guess it also depends on the price tag you out on your softwares. If too expensive it might be too much work for the clients to come up to the sum they need to get it for free?

The pros with Trialpay.com seems to be that they already have a fully working system for this which means less work for the seller.

The cons might be that they most likely get your client to make further sales to and I am not sure you can build a good list from these clients. At least not a list you have all by your own. Still.. The potential clients have most likely used their mail addresses at other places too so for sure others is already trying to sell to several of them so I am not sure that this is such a big problem. If having a good product one can always sell it even if got competing offers sent to the same clients.

It won't be expensive, I would be pretty much OK with 2-5 bucks for download

Well.. Through Trailpay.com I have seen products for sale for up to 35 USD so it must be possible to make at least that money. Maybe you should go for a little bit more then 2-5 bucks

Well .. since your target audience is teens .. why not try to launch your own social network .. and don't forget to include that lovely invite your friends feature ..

You can always make use of the social network to make you money later on ...

I've take a look at Trialpay for a moment. I see they have offers like Blockbuster, Ebay etc, etc

These are not quite free offers, am I right ? I am not sure what conversations I could get with those

Is there any easier offers that doesn't require CC - like email submits, surveys, registrations and similar

As I said.. I haven't had time to dig so deep into Trialpay yet. I am still at work and can't surf the Internet for private stuff all the day. ;-)

I had hope that trialpay would have totaly free ways of paying for the products like forms to fill in etc but if not then I am kind of disappointed too

I am really wanting to sell some of my products with no cost for the buyers except some minor work to get the money to pay for it. Maybe one should combine PayPal, Trialpay and some other PPA offers to get the product? (So the buyer have some choices)

Anyway... They use Ebay and who doesn't buy on Ebay? Wonder if one can CS some before sending the client further so one get some extra commission? If that's working through the Trialpay system it is... Maybe (and most likely) they collect the commission for the clients that passes through them as they are the referer... Or does Ebay go for the first referer??

I just digged this little further, and I think that Trialpay is not good ofr this. Basically there is nothing free there ( as I could see ). One who want to download my software needs to buy other and get both with that purchase.
