While I'm just getting started with doing Local SEO. However, it's all about citations. Citations, also called your NAP (name, address and phone number) being listed on a page, can help with your Local SEO. Basically, just like how google counts a backlink as a "vote" for your website, every time it sees your NAP, it counts that as a vote for your local business. Keep in mind, you want to make sure your NAP is *exactly the same* on every website. If google sees your business on one website as "102 Main St." and on another as "102 North Main Street"... google may consider these two be two different businesses.
A good place to start for getting your citations is the forum thread "Excellent Success with Google Local - See How I did it!"
Also, to keep track of all of them, I use a spreadsheet. Can't post the link to that either but you can find it by googling "Finding and Building Citations Like an Agency" which is on Moz. It's under the link halfway down the page "Feel free to download this free Local Citation Building Template."
I also setup an autofill profile with Lastpass just so I don't have to manually fill out *most* of the info on every site.
