How to do a "Win $100" contest on my site

I know that like plenty of things are incentivized with a "win money" incentive, like when i used to submit reviews through some services thy had win $1000 giveaway that entries were drawn every 6 months or some arbitrarily long period of time. Can I get in any trouble for this in USA, and do you do it?

No for sure I wouldn't require a purchase, just some type of action like an email for an action. Thanks
