Hi guys,

Is there a way to detect cloaked backlinks to my website or to the website of a competitor?

For a few days I'm monitoring backlinks to my website with "monitorbacklinks" com.

I'm receiving alerts that the "monitorbacklinks" system detects new backlinks to my website from web pages not related to my business niche. For example hospital pages in Australia, online pharmacies and etc. I'm selling cheap virtual servers based in Russia, China, and Serbia.

When opening the pages from where backlinks come there is nothing about my page. Even browser "view-source" doesn't show any links to my page. The stupidity is that I'm seeing these links even in my Google Search Console.

The requester can also be cloaked...proxies, vpn, user agent and so on. Gotta be creative in how you investigate competitors. Think what you'd do and apply the same, see if you find cloaked content. There really is no single method. Cloaking is a black art, it's something you learn on your own.

Sounds like referral spam. You're gonna have to filter it manually.

Your site is probably hacked, and the hacker probably set up a cloaker so that only google gets to see the backlinks in the site while no one else can.

My suggestion would be to go to your hosting file manager and check the affected pages/files to see what the code is.

Also, I would suggest to wipe your server and start anew so yo get rid of all possible backdoors
