How to Destroy SEO Rankings

I've had some experience in SEO and have had the pleasure of seeing some projects rise. I'm curious to know if anyone here has had any experience on the downfall? Is it possible that a competitor can destroy your rankings? If so then how would you know?

I know this is a broad question, however, I'm wondering what happened to a specific site that I had that recently dropped significantly in ranking. There's really no other logical conclusion rather then the negative influence of a third party.

The biggest question would be how to determine what was done and even more so - can the damage be repaired?

Has anyone really spend the time to attack a compit and any success on that ?
 
It could be reported as spam so you may want to check your webmasters tools account(if you have one). It could be penalty for duplicated content. Also if you were building links you may want to check if they are still in place. Usually if someone is trying to sabotage your site by using scrapebox and xrummer and the site is legit it will come back up even stronger.

there are as many reasons a site can rise as it can fall - show me the URL and I will tel l you why it is not ranking on par with competitor (if that is truly the case)
 
direct forum profile blast to like 25 to 100k leads to drop in rankings.
 
most people who know how to do this wont talk about it, im 1 of them, ill do it if the price is right though
 
This is very easy, you just need to do this and that + mess up SEO for the site, also if your going for and have money you can drop site via DDOS.

This is only for serious competition and sites that get more than 100k traffic bi-monthly.

Generally, based on my knowledge anyways, these type of sites will have a splash page giving the user a warning when you click on the site from a Google search. I'm familiar with what you're saying but I don't think this is the case.

I know has to take into consideration that it is possible for other people to attempt to destroy the reputation of a website.

Yes, I would tend to agree. Any large surplus (of anything) would have a negative effect. I've been careful this way.

I think one way would be to check the links linking back to your site. If you didn't place them there then there has to be a good reason why someone put it up. Other then that I'm still pondering...
 
There are many reasons for sudden drop in rankings,
- Any penalty
- Ban
- Backlink got devalued

Your competitor's can not hurt your rankings, but they can make their website out rank yours.
Second thing, Competitors can hurt your reputation... and hurting reputation effects a lot on your conversions.
 
I already did it sucessfully, only doing Link Spam, and Link Farms...
 
Does it work if you spam an huge amount of blog comments through a 301 redirection on the target page?
