If you don't have the skills and don't want to wait for someone to decrypt a theme for you, this is the perfect soluction.

1. Copy Paste the footer
2. Erase the bits that don't matter.
3. ?????
4. Profit!

Most of the free themes have an encrypted footer, and everyone using it will provide free "Link Juice" to the theme creator. That's how one theme designer got to 1st place on Technoratti without having that many visits... he had an insane amount of backlincks from very visited blogs!

There's also those premium themes you download for 'free'... they'll have links to landing and pre-sell pages. By using this, you're helping one of your competitors ranking higher than you!

Easier way: Put comments on the beginning and end of the file, then view source of the main page and take out the footer. All WP footers are just HTML, no dynamic stuff. :D

For noobs like me! What he really means is:


  • Open index.php file of your theme.
  • Scroll down and find <?php get_footer(); ?> this code or you can use Ctlr+F to find it quickly.
  • Now you have to add simple codes on top of it and another at bottom.
  • <?php get_footer(); ?> should look like this
These codes are:

You can write anything you want between <!- and ->

Does anyone know how to remove the links from the footer of the themes on newwpthemes.com? I tried just removing the links, and there is some type of call home function that breaks the themes.

I have seen several that encrypt part of the theme code, so just commenting it or deleting that part won't work. :p

ZZSKYZZ - Were you able to get an answer to this? I've tried everything in the world to find that encryption process was used for this so I can get it decrypted. There's several folks on this thread looking for the same thing...it's the footer.php file on the techified wordpress blog template. Can't add Google Analytics to it without being able to modify the footer. Can anyone else the many of us looking? Thanks so much for any and all help!
