How to create custom advanced search form?

I know i can always pay for freelancer, but i'm more like diy guy. I have a site that has 250 or so products and i want to add an advanced search form there so people can easily find what they want by narrowing down their search. Kind of like hotel booking sites have.

Can someone point me in how it's done? Thank you

How about this - get the hotel booking script (you mentioned), or any similar script, and look at the part of the code dealing with search.
