If you see this forum it is pulling Microsoft NewsGroup content and alos content from many other sites. So which program/tool they are using.

Tht seems to b a nice way to monetize a site.

whats googles take on this ? as its dupe content google will all ready have these topics indexed in its google groups ? I know it is a easy way to get nice free content but with the dupe content you might end up in the surps. Also what to stop people posting links to the ynewsgroups that they know you posting direct to your forums.

I guess it does allow others on your forum to post to replies to the news group posts but just worried about the dupe content rule.

honestly google doesnt really penalize it at all ive built a couple hundred forums with usenet feeds and every one indexes well, and ive gotten up to a pr6 with little effort on one site. so no it doesnt penalize it like they normally do with regular web content.. every forum is different thats how google looks at it. Take a look at hostingforum.ca and look up the keyword hosting forum in google and see what he serps say. powerful tools.

Thanks Cobby I will take a look at this. I was goggling and found loads of sites doing this. One way to get free content I guess, and gets normal members to start up conversations. But I guess the posts do not get posted back to the newsgroup users?

in Feb 2007 i sold a forum "hosting forum.ca" built off this technology, for $22,000 on sitepoint. at the time it had a 40,000 Alexa and a pr6 with #2 position on hosting forum, web hosting forum etc keywords in Google. but it was all auto feed. If you go there now, the owners i sold to sold it to someone else who thought they could make it work, and blah blah it just failed. I got my money out of it, but they totally bombed the project, the right owner could have made a million off that site because of the niche and the amount of interest it generated. Again no room for novices in a professionals domain...

I'm currently oiling Google up with dreamweaverforum.info its got 5 million auto posts and holds a 80,000 Alexa with a pr3 moving up. makes about 10 - 20.00 a day in adsense on autopilot.

I have perfected this method. But there's alot you need to modify in vbulletin to make this work. This is just the beginning to make Google suck this up and get clients and visitors coming in.

As for the conversations being posted back, that's totally dependant if one, you want it to, if the news server your using allows posting. i use one that doesn't repost currently because it keeps the people from posting crap in the newsgroups, when your running a big forum. but if your running a small forum and can post in one or two of the groups, and you can moderate the posts before they get sent, then yeah its worth while to have it post to the nntp, because you can send it with your footers, and all the services, from Google groups, other websites, other forums, blogs and newsreaders will have your links in the post. your talking the potential for tons and tons of posts and linkbacks.. the possibilities are endless.

Im writing a thorough e book, video tutorial and member site to build these forums in v bulletin, how to mod them, how to seo them etc. I used to sell the service for forum owners for 99.00 to setup the feeds, seo the forums, and setup the kill files so it limits the spam pouring in. but i got sick and had a heart attack and haven't really taken it up again.
