How to create a sidebar?

So I'm just getting started with a site. I wanna create a sidebar wich can display 4-5 random articles so I can make users stay longer when they clicked on my site. The sidebar has to be on every article except the homepage.

Any idea on how I should do that? I'm using Elementor and WordPress. Thanks.

Create an elementor template that has the content and setup the layout to have a sidebar and use the post widget and setup the display settings to entire website and exclude home page
