Hello,

I am currently talking with someone about designing a website for me; but I have little to no experience in this. Trying to describe my vision accurately I'm finding is really difficult to do. Any way I can create a real simple 'mock-up' of what I'm looking for so I can make sure I'm not leaving anything out?

Create a sketch on paper or create a wireframe online using one of the many tools available like mockflow.com or others

Many front end web developers use a program like Photoshop or Gimp to create a visual "mock up" but yes wire frames are useful.

Why not try finding a ready-made template that you can personalise, i usually go to wix or weebly because they are easy web builders to grasp and then just give them the link to all the ones you like once you've spent a few hours finding something similar and then tell them what you would want changed.
If that doesnt help, use post it notes on a sheet to draw and write on then you can move them around.
