How to convince distributors to drop ship for me

Is the only way to scale an e-commerce clothing shop to have tens of thousands in inventory?

That seems to be the dilemma- can’t get my site to rank without having products but can’t get companies to agree to drop ship without ranking (unless willing to spend obscene amounts for inventory and storage)

Any creative solutions here?
