    Hello,

Teamviewer allows me only 5 mins so I needed to change. I'm trying windows remote desktop and I hope it doesn't lags and works well. I'm having trouble connecting to my server, what do I need to enter in the computer name? Ip address? Where do I get that from? I'm using virtualbox on a server on windows 7.

    Thanks

On my VPS the name is the IP, the user is administrator and then the password. Not sure about virtual box but all this info for mine is in my VPS hosting panel.

I'm using ec2, I install virtualbox in it and using windows 7. How do I get the ip, it's called fully qualified domain name, I just can't get it? Been searching for an hour already.

www.blackhatworld.com is a FDN, if you ping the FDN from cmd you get this
    Reply from 191.101.191.90: bytes=32 time=7ms TTL=52 <- this is the IP address

so now that you cannot memorise the IP they made it easy to assign FDN and resolve it to an IP address,
what it means when you type the www.blackhatworld.com root will translate this to an IP address for you and connect.
to remote is, if the IP address is not translated to a FDN then you will have to use the IP address else you can use the FDN

how to get the IP address from any device
    windows
CDM -> opens a black box
    tyep the following ipconfig

    C:\Users\not.telling.youl>ipconfig

    Windows IP Configuration

    Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : <your DNS>
    IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : x.x.x.x <--------------------------host ip address
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : y.y.y.y <--------------------------sub network host belogs to
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : z.z.z.z <----------------------- your last resort

    on linux box
    open a terminal and type
    ifconfig

other than MS all other devices are linux base

on a VM, login to the VM and type one of the above (if its widows then ipconfig, linux ifconfig)

problem here is if there is a NATing, then you will have to find out where its been NATed and then see whether its been NATed 1 to 1 or 1 to many
if its 1 to 1 then its easy
if its 1 to many your fked
