I have subscribed to practically every hosting service available on the market, and apart from speed, there are few differences between the various providers. Downtime is the most critical factor, and none of them is perfect!
Those who have developed custom platforms (such as Siteground, Hostinger, Dreamhost) generally offer more features than the big players based on Cpanel like Bluehost/Hostgathor. But here we are talking about hosting that costs more than $100 per year.
A good compromise is Hawkhost if I have to suggest a single provider.
There are also basic offers starting at $x/year that are based on Directadmin or Cpanel, which are just as good. I have purchased some reseller accounts and I am able to offer good hosting for a few dollars per year, obviously with limited disk space.
