I can also recommend the Wordfence, works properly on my sites (and it's easy to use). The other important thing is to update your plugins regularly - older versions can be vulnerable.

It's tough. Those who are saying x, y,z plugins only had good experiences with those plugins because they aren't hacked yet. In reality, stuffs like rfi vulnerability is almost impossible to detect. I have posted some proof of concepts before on this. Currently on Mobile, and I am too lazy to do a search lol.
In general, avoid using plugins unless they are absolutely needed. Don't use nulled themes and plugins atall. Avoid buying sites from untrusted people.
