With MNS's i see people saying they have like 1500 searches per month or what have you, but how do you check how many searches a keyword has? I would like to start a micro niche site but I wanna know how to check search volume for a keyword.

Go to google keyword tool and make sure to click exact on the left hand side

Well i found a keyword what only has 500 monthly searches. Is that good?

search on google: "google keyword tool"

remember to check " exact match" on the left panel

it's the best, but it's not 100% accurate, as google also said already.

you can also check what are trends for those keywords using the google insight tool.

Google Adword Tool is the best option to know the keyword density, competition and monthly searches, when you search the keyword on it, it'll also tell show you the monthly searches and global search on keyword.

No, it does not show keyword density.
It's not the best tool for competition as it only gives an indication of it ('high, medium or low' competition does not mean much, so you need to analyze the page 1 results).

Adwords Keyword tool is the best free tool to give an indication of average search volume. But, it is only an approximation.

Keyword tool of course.
But make sure you check out the competition with traffic travis or market samurai on the particular market segment you found

If you download the results in an excel format it does get a little bit more detailed on competition by breaking it down into a numerical format.
