How to check Keyword Competition?

Hello Everyone,

I am starting to do some SEO thing. I was searching for some low competitive keywords but can't decide if they are low or high competitive.
I am using keyword planner and this guide (http://vabulous.com/how-to-target-and-rank-high-for-low-competion-keywords/) to check the competition.
But I am getting some confusions. When I add my keyword in keyword planner, it says competition is low, but when I use intitle:"keyword" inanchor:"keyword" the search result goes to over 50k, which isn't low competition according to that guide.
So whom should I believe? KW planner or the guide?
Please suggest if there is any other good way to check the competition.

Man, in SEO, you are as good as your tools. I would suggest you to buy a paid keyword research tools like long tail pro to get head start into keyword analysis. ..

The competition in keyword planner is adwords competition not SEO competition and btw you can't check competition based on intitle:"keyword" or inanchor:"keyword", you can use traffic travis for free http://www.traffictravis.com/register

free, just register, check for the keyword, then you can evaluate and it will tell you the difficulty

Ya i checked your post blackhatknight. So thats the tool i need to check competition. Will give it a try. thanks
