How to check if webhosting is active or not ?

Hi, i may have a strange question, but i am asking anyway. I have hosted my site on a uk based hosting provider, its been 4 years since i am using them ,but now they have stopped responding to my query/ticket/mail, my package is paid till end of this year but i am really worried if they are in biz or if hosting admin is ok. Is there anyway to checkout about them. I tried google but there twitter has last post in july 2016. And mail is not responding. Any help from this forum would be a welcome. As i have bit bulky site established in last 3 years and it will be pain if it goes down suddenly.

It's important for you to be reguarly creating offline backups of your sites, especially important or "bulky" ones. Then even if the hosting does go down you can just grab a new host and get your site going again by pointing the URL to the new address.

If you don't have backups of this site already and the host is completely unresponsive then I would suggest you do so as quickly as possible if you value this site even in the slightest.
 
If you sign in and your site is up then you are OK for now but if the host is not responding to you, then probably time to switch.
As @Toral said, make sure you do a backup now.
It makes sense to post the host name and host url because they might have alerts set up and come here to respond to you.
 
And add your website to a website uptime monitoring service.
 
Backup, Backup, Backup NOW.

I can't stress that enough. You see tons of post where sites have gone down and guys don't have a backup of the site. If they are not responding to tickets, nothing on twitter and Facebook. You could also check some other of forums and see if they are active anywhere. Other than that not much else you can do. Just put a monitor like they said on your site so you know when it goes down if it does.

ok, the host in talk is exhz.co.uk, i kind of tracked the owner at twitter, he seems like active but I havent posted any query on his timeline as it may sound bad for his clients to know on twitter that he or his team is not repsonding to queries, so i am just taking a backup of my website. as its a wp based site i am going to use some simple plugins.

uptime monitoring services are kind of pain sometime, even for some of my dropped project and domains which i posses no ownership, they keeps on sending me mail.

if you found the owner on Twitter then you should contact him for sure, you have paid for the service, it doesn't matter what his other clients think about his support.
also as everyone recommended keep latest backup of your website on your PC
if you have their contact number then make a call to them about your queries
 
If you want them to contact you, just remove your credit card or Paypal subscription and billing will surely be in touch with an open ticket when the next payment fails.
 
If you have a site hosted on that host (LOL) it should load properly if you added DNS
