There a few you can upload to your server but you have to pay for them or find them shared for free.I can't remember the name of the one I used.

I forgot to mention you want to redirect that person to your offer after they opt-in..When you mail them the first few times send them something free.Then you can send them a offer but don't be pushy about.Talk to them like a friend and your list will stay strong.

Bookmarked. This sounds good, I will be building a list soon. Definitely cheaper than solo ads. One question, for the thank you page, did you use a self liquidating offer? Or maybe a CPA offer? Or nothing?

I redirect them straight to my offer.If you have a good tracker you can split test different offers to see what performs the best..Thats what I did.

And how many comments did you post altogether for those 180 subs?

For some reason all of the Google alerts that I have setup come in extremely late, WEEKS late, any ideas?

You get 20 results per keyword usually so I posted probably 15 comments and the others were moderated.The email you send them first is a thank you and something free.The 3rd email you can pitch them.

You don't have to wait for the alerts to come via email.Just go to Alerts without being logged into Google and visit each link and post your comments.

you can also try a somewhat similar method by a member called 'Carepolice' on this forum and im sure you will get a lot of ideas......keep trying think of different niches...

I tried this method 3hrs per day for 2 days.I get 51 clicks according to bit.ly but I only get about 4 subscribers in my email list.

I think your comment may be the problem, makes your comments sounds legit and pretend like you are pro in that subject matter, you will be able to generate leads i think.
